Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken
This week our theme is caterpillars and butterflies. And to help us learn more about this theme, we have invited some visitors to our classroom that know all about the subject of caterpillars. Five caterpillars have arrived to join the Kindergarten class!! The students are very excited to watch them grow and transition into beautiful butterflies!
Our countdown to the end of the school continues this week with doughnut day, estimation day, finger foods day, and game day.

We are studying Southeast Asia and students are invited to make a Sampan or Junk to enter a contest this Friday. The workmanship should be done by the students. The Sampans/Junks will be tested on their ability to float under smooth and windy conditions and how much weight they can hold.
Several students did not turn in their Physical Fitness booklets yesterday. Students should be logging exercise for 20-30 minutes, three times a week. Booklets are collected each Monday.
Our annual Jog-a-thon is coming in May. This is a student funded scholarship program for Vista Ridge Academy. Students will run/walk for an hour to raise money to help other students attend VRA. Encourage your child to get sponsors! I will award classroom prizes for the following: 1) the student who runs the most laps; 2) the student who gets the most sponsors; and 3) the student with the most funds raised. Happy running!
A current grade report is enclosed in today’s folder.

Life Skills
The “wedding” last week was a total success. The Life Skills students really put on a great event!
Mr. Wuerfel
20ish more days to go until summer break! We are quickly approaching the end of the year and there is still so much left to do.
Reminder: On the 10th our eleventh grade students are giving their oral research presentations to a board of individuals for their finals. This is an intense endeavor and they will need all the support they can get.
The ninth and tenth grades are still working hard on understanding the disciplines. This has been one of the deepest/ most enjoyable units I have ever taught. The depth that these students are getting with their study and the relevancy of the topics has created a unique atmosphere in the classroom during Bible.
The seventh and eighth grades are still reading Greek mythology and it has been most exciting. Answers to questions like where did the word narcissism come from? Where did the idea of an echo originate? All of this has been exciting to be a part of.

Box Tops for Education & Campbell's Labels |
 |
Save every Box Top for Education and Campbell's Label for our school! The Campbell's "Labels for Education" program is similar -- save the UPC codes of most products (not the front labels as in the past). On most Campbell's products, a tiny inscription beside the "Labels for Education" logo will describe what to save. Vista Ridge Academy benefits from every "Box Tops for Education" and "Campbell's Labels for Education" turned in. Don't throw away these treasures! Our school has received a free huge play parachute from redeeming the Campbell's labels, and we have received over $500 cash from redeeming the Box Tops for Education.
