Mrs. Tusken
This week we are learning about insects. So far we have learned that insects have six legs and some can swim and jump.
Our 26 day count down starts this Thursday with “A”nimal day -- please bring a stuffed animal to school. Friday is “B”ackward day – wear your clothes backwards. I have included in your child’s Bear Binder a list of all activities for the remaining 26 days of school. Please check it frequently so that your child can participate in all the activities.
There are many students who still have overdue items from our school library. I have sent home a note today to all students who this applies to. Please check to make sure your student has returned all their items. Thanks.
Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines
We all survived Pet week! Besides the very special dogs and cats we had visits from a fish, hedgehog and Jacey’s 20 pound bunny. They were all on their best behavior and quite beautiful.
Parts are being selected for “Little Red Ridinghood,” the musical. Our plan is to perform this the last week of school.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Hansen
We are finishing up our geometry unit and will be starting fractions next.
We have written sponsor letters, for our Read-A-Thon, and will make the sponsor forms in the next two days. Once these come home children can start to find sponsors anytime. We will read for one week, one hour every night. Children can find sponsors to pledge one amount for the whole duration of reading week. You may find what we are doing on www.vetothesquito.com.
April 23-27 will be the week we read for 1hour every night. I will provide a log sheet of reading time, to hand in for a participation grade in Social Studies.
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
Thank you to Mrs. Lujan for being our substitute teacher today. I was on an evaluation team at our sister school in Franktown.
The Physical Education grade has always included proper attire and participation. Now, until the end of the school year, students should be logging in their fitness booklets exercise for 20-30 minutes, three times a week. Booklets will be collected each Monday.
Upcoming tests: Math for 6th grade on Wednesday, Science on Thursday, Social Studies on Friday, and, as always, the spelling test on Monday.
Our class has some great poets! This week we are working on Limericks.

Life Skills
Due to pre-wedding jitters the not-forever not-really joined in wedded bliss wedding of Miss Kayla Foley to Mr. Alexander Jewett will be performed on April 20 at 10:30 a.m. We are planning this mock wedding for the Life Skills class. The students will be learning about the meaning of the symbols in the wedding and planning, preparation and financial obligations of a wedding.
Mr. Wuerfel
The seventh and eighth grades are doing exceptional with their analysis of the Odyssey. They are currently viewing various Greek Myths and Stories. They will be looking at the story of Echo and Narcissus.
The ninth and tenth grades are beginning to really enjoy Much Ado About Nothing. They are also getting their brains challenged and picked with the Discipline of Confession. Ask your student or go online and see their journal blogs of their Discipline experience.
The eleventh graders are working hard on preparing for their oral presentations on May 10. We will have various distinguished guests and even a couple CU staff there to observe. This is going to be a great learning experience for them.
Conditioning is going well! Each student has noticed a change for the better in their health and each have set year end goals. Ask these students what/when their cheat days are.
*With regret, Dinner Theater for this year has been cancelled.

Next Year!
As we are looking to next year for planning and preparation, if you have questions, comments or suggestions, the Principal will be in the office on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00. If this is not convenient, please contact her to schedule a time.
Please Note!
Lost and Found If you have lost your violin please notify the office!
Re-Enrollment Applications The classrooms are filling! Please return your forms to assure a place for next year!
Ride Needed! Seventh grade student needs a ride home from school to Dacono. Please contact the office if you can help. Parents are willing to help with gas money.
Upper Grade Students are experiencing an epic shortage of school supplies. Please see that your student has all that is needed!
Please! School closes Monday through Thursday at 3:30 p.m – please pick your child up NO LATER than 3:45 p.m. On Fridays, school closes at 12:15 pm. Please pick them up no later than 12:30 p.m. Thanks.
Gymnastics students need to be picked up promptly, also. Thank you.
Parents: Please do not park in the fire or bus lane! Please keep this lane open!
Caution: Heavy equipment and large trucks are now present on Ridge View Drive as they break ground next door for the medical professional building and the new pre-school. Use caution as you are coming and going.
Dress Code Reminder: As spring looms nearer (we hope), students will want to wear shorts more often. Please review the guidelines in your handbook with your student. Specifically, plaid pants/shorts are not to be worn and pants/shorts should not have decals or embellishments. Please note the proper length as taken from the handbook: When worn at the waist shorts are no shorter than 3 inches above the floor when kneeling. Thank you.
Thank You A mysterious donor left a friendship bamboo for me two weeks ago in the school office. Thank you so much! I have wanted one for my kitchen for awhile. It seems to be very happy there now. ¡Muchas gracias! --- Mrs. Hayes

Box Tops for Education & Campbell's Labels |
 |
Save every Box Top for Education and Campbell's Label for our school! The Campbell's "Labels for Education" program is similar -- save the UPC codes of most products (not the front labels as in the past). On most Campbell's products, a tiny inscription beside the "Labels for Education" logo will describe what to save. Vista Ridge Academy benefits from every "Box Tops for Education" and "Campbell's Labels for Education" turned in. Don't throw away these treasures! Our school has received a free huge play parachute from redeeming the Campbell's labels, and we have received over $500 cash from redeeming the Box Tops for Education.
