Mrs. Ordelheide
This week we are talking about Christmas. In addition, the beginning sound of “sl” and ending sound of “ig” are being discussed. Our “sight words” this week are: has, are, and cat. The letter of the week is “L”.
Thank you for all your help toward making last week’s Christmas program a success. The kindergarten class did a wonderful job!

Thanks for your cow and goat money. We are sending this money to ADRA. They have a gift catalogue where we selected the goat for Ubekistan and a cow for a Vietnamese family. The total cost is $255.00.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Hansen
Friday is our Christmas party. Each child will need to bring a used toy wrapped up. We will be playing a game with these. If your child forgets to bring something we will have a hard time playing the game and probably will need to change plans. Because of being sick, there won’t be work sent home till after Christmas.
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
Even though the quarter isn’t over until January, students are feeling as though they are nearing the end with Christmas vacation just around the corner. Our book orders came in and will be handed out on Wednesday.
Have you heard of Hi5? It is similar to My Space. Take the time to ask your student if they have created a profile on Hi5 (and take a look!).
We had Science and Spelling tests yesterday. There will be a Math test and part one of an English test over verbs on Thursday. Students are also working on their final project for Hatchet.
Friday will be our Christmas Party. Students have drawn names and should bring in a small gift to exchange (no more than $5). We will play games and have snacks as well.
Have a wonderful Christmas Holiday!
Grades 7-10
Mr. Wuerfel, Ms. Schneider,
Mr. Force and Mr. Pauls
Home & School is requesting that each family in our classroom bring 2 dozen cookies (or other light treat) to the Christmas program this Wednesday evening. The refreshments will be served after the program. Please bring your contribution to the kitchen when you arrive. Thank you!
January 12-14: Youth Bible Conference for students in grades 9-11. The early-bird cost is $40. The event will be at Glacier View Ranch. The featured speaker is Josue Feliciano from the Iowa Missouri Conference. There will also be performances by TKO drama ministries and a concert by Antioch. Please turn in your money to the office.
January 22: Campion vs. Mile High basketball game at the Pepsi Center. Start planning if you would like to attend.
Life Skills
If your student is in Life Skills class this quarter, ask them about the results of their CAPS, COPS, and COPES Career Testing and also about their Personality Testing. They have lots of information to share with their parents!
Mr. Wuerful
Tomorrow is the big day! The drama team is anxious and nervous all at the same time. They have practiced hard and learned their lines like any good actor/ actress would. We are inviting everyone to invite friends and neighbors and make this a real outreach.
Classes are still going well in all grades. The eleventh grade students are finishing their Blackberry Tales (a modern version they are writing of the Canterbury Tales). The tales will be sold in the beginning of the year. The proceeds will be given to the worthy teacher fund, i.e., Mr. Wuerfel. (Another form of satire.) But in all seriousness, the books will be sold and we as a class will try to send the stories out for publication. Just think, your student could be a published author!
Mr. Force
More poinsettias have arrived. If you ordered poinsettias and have not yet picked them up please pick them up by Wed. Dec. 13th. See Deanna Morgan, in grade 8, or go to the school office to have your name signed off our list when you pick them up. Thank you for supporting this grade 8 class fund raiser. |
Lost and Found
Last Chance
We will have the Lost and Found items on a table in the hall during the music program on Wednesday evening and in the pit on Thursday and Friday. This is your last chance to collect these items!! Items not claimed will be donated to a worthy cause. Please check for your child’s belongings.
$10 Reward
The library is missing the letter “D” from its newest World Book Encyclopedia Set. It has been missing since last year. If you find it, please return it to Mrs. Hodgson to claim your reward!
Please Note
Parents: Please do not park in the fire or bus lane! In order to keep traffic flowing and the bus on schedule, we need to allow room.
Please check the monthly calendar online for any changes. We are trying to conserve paper and printing
Our school would love to have its own video camera! If you are updating your camera equipment this year and would like to donate your old equipment please remember our school!!

If you want to join the Spanish class and their parents for an evening of fun learning about six Spanish-speaking countries, tasting what is eaten there, and swinging at a piñata, come to VRA December 14 from 6-8 p.m. But be sure to call Profesora Hayes at 303-443-0198 or tell one of the class members if you want to come to our piñata party.
