Classroom News

Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken

I hope everyone has a good time at track and field!  I was so proud of all the kindergartners.  They all did a great job!

We have been learning about fire safety this week.  We are so excited to go on our field trip tomorrow.  Please remember to bring a booster seat to school every child needs one in order for us to transport everyone.

We would like to welcome Mignon to our class.  We are so happy to have another girl student!

Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines

Our class is growing, we welcome Jeremiah and Tuné.  As you can imagine, we are bursting at the seams!

Owl reports are coming in and owl pellets are being carefully pulled apart.  If it makes you feel better, these pellets are regurgitated through the mouth and don’t pass through the owl as many thought!

Upcoming field trip is scheduled for October 11th to the Anderson Pumpkin Farm.

Grades 3-4
Mrs. Hansen

We leave for Glacier View tomorrow morning, parents are driving.  The floor of the Long House is concrete, so please bring a sleeping mat or an air mattress.  We will arrive back at Vista Ridge, Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson

Today was our first day to cook hot lunch!  We will be cooking Haystacks once a month.  A big thank you to Mrs. Manion for helping us out!

Did anyone notice the Scrabble “Scribble” spelling error in last week’s newsletter?  I was in such a hurry to get to jury duty that I misspelled a very important word!

Track and Field was exciting and tiring.  We have been dragging our feet (until it’s time for recess) the past two days.  Thank you to Mrs. Smith for helping grade 5 &6 boys at Track and Field!

We are planning to attend the IMAX movie, Ancient Greece, on October 10.  I have made reservations for 25 people.  If you are interested in attending, please let our room mother, Diana Manion, know as soon as possible.  She can be reached at 303-926-1317.  The cost is $4.50 per adults and students.   A permission slip will be coming the first part of October.

Grades 7-10
Mr. Wuerfel,  Ms. Schneider,
Mr. Force and Mr. Pauls

English/British Lit
Classes are going well and the students are well on their way to becoming English scholars! British Literature is still going well.  Students are posting comments online and heated discussion over the given literature is making for enjoyable reading. The ninth and tenth grades have begun reading Great Expectations and are doing well. Seven and eight are almost done reading The Giver and will start writing response papers to it. Again, please visit the Web site for any questions on assignments, spelling lists, and books required for reading.

Bible & History:
Where was God on 9-11?
Have you ever been asked that question?  Have you ever asked that question yourself?  We have looked at some possible answers in Bible and History.  If you would like to discuss this question with your children, they could share more possible answers in class.  This could be a chance for a real valuable discussion with your children.

Fine Arts
Mrs. Carlisle & Mrs. Force

Plans are underway for each of the music groups to share their talents in our local churches.  The recorder group is already scheduled to play on Sabbath, October 7 in Boulder.  Stay tuned ♫ for more announcements about performances.

If you want your student to join Strings, please contact Megan Tipton at (720) 939-4955 for details.

We want to say “Thank You” to all those who helped and came out to support our Field and Track day.  The day was a great success and we could not have done it without you.  We are very proud of all our students.
