Please send cash only; no checks for pizza. The pizza is $1.00 per slice. Dollar bills are appreciated! Students have money envelopes in the office in which you place money (cash only!) for pizza. (This is also used for snack shack, etc.; there is a form which we need filled out by you giving your permission!) Also, parents, if you have filled out the permission slip, please place money in your child’s envelope!

The kindergartners are the apples of my eye! We have been talking apples this week. Today we will enjoy cinnamon applesauce and on Friday we will make caramel apples!
I have scheduled the fire station field trip for September 20. Each student will need to bring $5.00 for a McDonald’s lunch. I am sending permission forms home today. Please sign them and return along with the money.

Berry Patch Farms was a big hit. The weather was perfect and the berries were scrumptious! Thanks to Mr. Britt and all the parents that helped out.
It is quite important to send SNACK SHACK items when Cindy Morgan calls you. Suggestions for snacks are: Rice Krispee bars, cookies, fruit roll-ups, ice cream bars, popsicles, etc. Paper cups are also needed. This is our class mission project.
Owl reports are due in the next couple of weeks. WHOOOOS ready? Did you know that an owl is able to hear a mouse 60 feet away? Ask your student about Poppy and Mr. Ocax.

We are going to Glacier View Ranch for Outdoor School, September 21 & 22. We will be staying in the Long House. Each student will need to pay $25 for this trip. Each adult that would like to go will need to pay $13. Please send your money in by Friday, September 15 or Monday, September 18. Permission slips are enclosed.

The School Scribble set has been ordered! Thank you to the Liu Family for supporting this project. Other families were interested in helping so I will have some more wish list items in the future!
I was summoned for jury duty today and Mrs. Chamberlain was our substitute teacher. Thank you!!
The book orders have been mailed. They guarantee orders to arrive in two weeks or less.

Life Skills Class: We need volunteers to come in and give our students job interviews for their chosen professions. The interviews will take place this Thursday at 10:00 am. If you can help with this process, please give Carol Schneider a call.
English/British Lit: Classes are going well and the students are well on their way to becoming English scholars! British Literature is stilling going well. Students are posting comments online and heated discussion over the given literature is making for enjoyable reading. The ninth and tenth grades have begun reading Great Expectations are doing well. Seven and eight are almost done reading The Giver and will start writing response papers to it. Again, please visit the Web site for any questions on assignments, spelling lists, and books required for reading.

Europe Trip
It is time to get your passports! Passport applications can be obtained at most Post Offices!
Finances!
Invoices go out the beginning of the month, and are due by the 10th of the same month. If you have an outstanding balance you will receive a statement, you need to pay the amount highlighted on the statement. Hours for the business manager are Monday and Wednesday 9:00 – 3:00.
Free Monitors
The school has a surplus of CRT monitors which are looking for a home! They will be available in the atrium on Friday at noon. They have been tested and proven to be in good condition.
Rides Needed!
We have 2 students who need rides after school. One needs to be dropped off near South Boulder Road and 287, the other one needs to be dropped off at 615 S. Boulder Road. If you could help these parents out with a ride, please contact the office. Thank you!
Soccer
The game this Friday is a home game to be announced. It will begin at 1:00 pm and be over by 2:30 pm. Come cheer the Vista Ridge Eagles!!!
The game last Friday was against Foothills Academy. Although we lost the game, our team played hard and showed great team organization. The Player of the Game was Daniel Hodgson for his great scoring. The Rookie of the Game was Anthony Wood for his strong effort and his great passing.
Track and Field Day
Sunday, September 17, is our Track and Field Day. Warm-ups begin an 8:45, with events beginning at 9:00. We are meeting again at Legacy High School. This is considered a school day and attendance will be taken. If your family has church obligations come to the office and fill out a student absence request.
Although the forecast is for a cool day, the weather should be sunny. If weather does not permit us to hold the track and field day, a teacher will call you Sunday morning.
Please bring your own picnic lunch as well as chairs or blankets to sit on.

Gymnastics
Gymnastics try outs are starting this week for the 7-11 grades. They are demonstrating how much they have learned and how hard they have worked.
The 5th & 6th graders are taking turns visiting for a day this week.

We will announce next week when we will be ready for the 5th & 6th graders to start their trial period.
3rd & 4th – don’t give up! Your turn is coming. We will have a day every week for you to come to gymnastics. We are hoping to start sometime in October, after we return from Acro-Fest at Union College.
Mom and Dad! I will be able to take 4 or 5 students to Acro-Fest October 5-8. Be ready to help your student with the proper forms if they are selected. Sorry that we can’t take them all!

Plans are underway for each of the music groups to share their talents in our local churches. The recorder group is already scheduled to play on Sabbath, October 7 in Boulder. Stay tuned ♫ for more announcements about performances.
This week the strings program began. Yesterday, while the staff was meeting together, we could hear their practice. Music to have staff meeting by! If your student is in the 3rd grade or above, you can take advantage of this free program. Call Megan Tipton at (720) 939-4955 for details.
