This week we are talking colors. The five colors we will focus on are red, blue, yellow, green and orange. Thank you to everyone who signed up for snacks. I still have two weeks available – October 23-27 and Oct 30 – Nov 3. If you can sign up, please let me know. I will place a master copy in this Friday. Look under calendars.
I want to go to a local fire station for a field trip in September. The tentative date is Wednesday, Sept 20. I would need one parent to help drive. I thought after the fire station we would go to McDonald’s for lunch and play. If you could help drive on that day, please let me know.
I hope everyone is finding the BEAR binder helpful. The students are doing a great job bringing them back and forth. Please remember to comment on the behavior report sheet. Thank you for all the comments in the P/T communication section. I really appreciate your effort in daily communication.
Please remember that dress code states that all students need to wear collared shirts and solid colored pants, shorts, & skirts!

Read your newsletter carefully. There is so much going on this week! On Thursday, August 31, we will walk to the nearby park for lunch, weather permitting. Don’t send anything for the microwave.
We have a class field trip to the Berry Patch on Wed, Sept. 6. Besides picking our berries, we will learn about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly when it comes to insects and how they interact with plants. Children will need a lunch, appropriate clothes, permission slips, and $4.00. We will ride the bus, leaving school at 9:00 a.m. I am looking for parent volunteers to join us.
Remember Parents' Night Potluck next Thursday, Sept. 7th. Hope to see each of you at the meeting.

This week is a full load of work, though I still am working on challenge work for those needing challenge! Parents PLEASE remember to take out your child’s graded work out of the binder, but not the ongoing notes, spelling words, etc. It is so awesome to have a class full of kids who love to pick up books and read! If you wonder at any time what on earth I’m doing, please just ask me, I won’t bite, promise! Usually there is a method to my madness, but sometimes I am wrong!

Tomorrow is our swimming party at Mrs. Carlisle’s! We will leave after lunch and return to school by 3:30. A modest one piece suit is a must!
Thank you to Brendan Johnson for life guarding!
We are definitely going to Outdoor School! We have plenty of supervision. More information will be coming as we get closer.
We started Toast Tuesday today. Ask your student about it!
Assignments will not be accepted after Friday of the week it was assigned. Students may correct all work for half credit.

Mr. Wuerfel, Ms. Schneider,
and Mr. Pauls
The computer system is still having the glitches taken out so it will be a couple of weeks before we will have access to the assignments and grades. We have made progress since last week, but some glitches still remain. Thank you for your patience.
The 7th-8th grades are up at Glacier View Ranch having a great time, although they are saying it’s too cold! A recent phone call relayed the fact that they just experienced an hour long rain and lightening storm. They have yet to discover the condition of their tents and sleeping bags.
Grades 9-11 are enjoying Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park in South Dakota. They will be doing some caving while they are there.

Mrs. Carlisle & Mrs. Force
There is a lot happening out in the Music and Art Departments. Mrs. Carlisle is practicing with the band members and has started a recorder choir in the 5th and 6th grade room. Mrs. Force has practiced with the new chime choir and the academy choir. This week will start the K-2 and the 3-6 choirs. The Art Class has started Beginner Drawing. They are doing “pre-instruction” drawings right now so they can monitor their progress through the quarter.
