Classroom News

Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken

We are off to a great start on a brand new year!

This week we are studying the alphabet.  We will be reading the book “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and making many are art projects that also go along with the book!  It would be wonderful if every student had a water bottle at school.  It truly is a big convenience!

Yesterday I sent home a calendar that included weekly snacks.  Please pick a couple of weeks that works into your schedule and return the calendar to me.  I will then make a master copy and place it in your child’s B.E.A.R. Binder.  We have 7 students in our class currently.

If you have any questions about the letters sent home yesterday.  Please let me know.

Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines

Welcome Back!  Your children must have been tired after their first day at school.  I sure was!  Encourage them to get into bed fairly early each night.  The first week of school after vacation is a rude awakening for most of us.

Remember to send a morning snack each day.  You can’t imagine how much the students look forward to it.  They will also need a lunch each day until our hot lunch program gets under way.

P.E. Class is every Monday and Wednesday afternoon.  Students must have tennis shoes for this.  They may be kept in their locker or cubby and worn only for P.E. if you wish.

Snack shack will beginning soon.  This is a project to raise money for a mission program.  On Mondays we well chocolate milk and some type of ice cream.  Right now we are getting organized and someone will be calling to ask for contributions.

There are a number of September birthdays on the horizon.  If you wish, you may send a treat of some kind.  We are attempting to keep these celebrations as healthy as possible when it comes to food items.

Classroom News, Continued

Grades 3-4
Mrs. Hansen

The first day of school went well and I am looking forward to having a good school year.  We have 18 kids in the 3rd and 4th grade room.  We have divided our room into different tribes named from  the Children of Israel.

Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson

We have a terrific 5th & 6th grade class with 18 students.  This week we will be doing a variety of placement tests as we prepare for the school year.  On average, students are expected to have 10 minutes of homework per grade level per night.  Students should expect to study about 50-60 minutes per night.  Some may need to spend more time if they chose not to study during the school day.

Enclosed in your folder is a tentative schedule.  We will modify the schedule if needed and send parents an updated copy.

Outdoor School is scheduled for the first week in October.  Please complete the enclosed survey so I can make proper arrangements.  Thank you!
