Mrs. Tusken

Thank you to all the students who participated in the History Fair!  Everyone looked great in their costumes!!

Tomorrow our class will be having an Easter egg hunt! If your child has an Easter basket at home that they would like to use for the hunt, please feel free to bring it to school. If your child does not have a basket, I will provide a container.

Our class, along with Ms. Gaines' class, is going to a theater presentation of Curious George!! The event is on May 1.  I am buying tickets on Thursday. If you would like to join the class, you need to let me know before Thursday.  We are buying group tickets and we need to order A.S.A.P. Tickets will cost $6.75 per person and the show starts at 12:00.

In your child’s folder I have included a letter explaining our count down of the last 26 days of school! Please keep the letter as a reference and a reminder. The kids are already excited to start the count down!

Mrs. Gaines

Thanks for all the good work on History Fair projects.  They were fabulous!

This Friday is the Egg Drop and we’re looking for school wide participation.  Greg Smith, who will be on the roof, will drop your creations onto the blacktop area behind the school. The eggs are not to be hard boiled, but straight from the carton.  Place the raw, undecorated egg in your container.  Prizes will be given for survivors, most attractive container, ugliest, and most imaginative.  No parachutes and no tape except scotch tape allowed.

Pet weeks will be April 17th through April 28th.  Schedule an appointment so that we don’t have conflicts.  All dogs and cats should be leashed.  Viewing area will be in back of the school, on the blacktop.  Don’t bring pet to the classroom unless it is a fish or reptile.

Grades 3-4
Mr. Breese

Dear Parents:  I really appreciate all of the hard work that went into the Social Studies projects.  I really enjoyed all of them.  The students did a great job! Thanks again for all of the encouragement and hard work.

The 3rd and 4th grade Spelling Bee at Mile High Academy is coming up on April 27th.  We have started practicing the words and have about two more weeks to go.  I handed out spelling lists a few weeks ago.  Some students said that they didn’t want to participate, but I would encourage everyone to participate just for the experience.  A few minutes practicing in the car every day would really help.

I would like to start a unit on using the dictionary next week for English, so I would appreciate it if you  could provide/make sure a pocket dictionary gets to school by Monday, the 17th.  Thanks.

Star Choir will be doing a medley of music from “The Wizard of Oz” complete with costumes and props.  Auditions are being held this week for Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and Narrator.  There will be lots of Munchkins who will need parental help with their costumes.  Please contact me if you need any help.

Cherub Choir is learning 2 part harmony.  They are working on some special effects combined with singing.  It’s really fun!

Gloria Dei is preparing a variety of music and concluding with a special “goodbye” song.

Classroom News, Continued

Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson

Week of Prayer is off to a good start.  The 9th and 10th graders are doing a wonderful job inspiring us to obey God and make no compromise!

A grade report for 4th quarter is enclosed in today’s folder.  As a reminder, students are allowed to turn in corrected work for half credit.

In order to prepare for seventh grade, sixth grade students are now expected to turn in their class work no later than the day after it was assigned.  Any late work will automatically receive 50% less than full credit.  Sixth graders also need to begin dressing for PE – elastic waist pants/shorts, t-shirt, and tennis shoes.  This policy will go into effect beginning April 17.
