Classroom News

Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken

This week our theme is Christmas.  We are learning how people in other countries celebrate the Christmas holiday.

I am sending home your copy of the snack sign-up sheet.  There are still a couple weeks that need to be covered.  If you can help, please let me know!

I will send home new sentence practices after the holidays.

We have been busy working on our Christmas Gift for our parents.  We will be sending them home on Thursday.  We are so excited!

Happy Holidays everyone and we will see you all next year!  (I told the kindergarteners this and they said “we have to stay with you for two years!!”)

Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines

Only a couple more days on our Christmas Tradition reports.  They need to be done before we party on Friday.

For the Christmas party we have decided to have nachos, root beer floats, popcorn, cut up fruits and veggies.  We will need large cups and plates.  Let us know what you can and want to bring.

Remember to contribute an item or two for the Peru mission trip Emily and family will be on over the vacation.  They leave this Thursday.

Grades 3-4
Mrs. Morgan

I was so proud of the outstanding performance by the 3rd & 4th grade children’s choir on Sabbath.  Great job guys!  Thank you to Becky Carlisle for all the hours she spent practicing with the students and to all the parents who brought your children to both the practice and performance.  Also, remember that this Wednesday afternoon there will be another opportunity to hear the 3rd & 4th grade choir sing at Avista Adventist Hospital.  We will be singing a new song so please join us if you can.  I am certain you will be blessed by the music!  (If you are planning to join us at Avista, please meet us just inside the main entrance by the stairs at 12:30)

The 3rd & 4th grade pioneers are very excited about the old-fashioned Christmas party we will be having this Friday.  Please remember to send in a present for the gift exchange.  Also, your child has volunteered to bring either food or paper products to share at the party (more details in the homework folder.)

Have a very safe and happy Christmas vacation!

Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson

Today was our field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  We will begin studying the human body after Christmas during science class.  This was a great introduction to the Unit for us.  Hopefully we can learn how to be better stewards of the wonderful bodies God has given us.

Students have the rest of this week at school to work on their Social Studies projects.  We will begin making presentations on Monday, January 2.

Throughout this week before Christmas break (and when we return) we will be celebrating birthdays in our classroom!

This Friday will be our Christmas party.  Some students are bringing in snacks to enjoy.  We are also looking forward to the gift exchange.

May everyone have a blessed Christmas and a great beginning to 2006!

Grades 7-10
Mr. Pauls
Mr. Wuerfel
Ms Schneider

The drama team would like to thank everyone that helped and attended the play. We had a blast performing and writing the script as well as acting. Continue looking for the team this coming year. They plan to be active and involved in church services as well as helping prepare the dinner theatre.
We will be showing the movie To Kill a Mockingbird in class after the break. The movie follows the book quite well and is a great way to say goodbye to such a lovely book. If you have any problems with your child seeing the movie please call and we will make arrangements for supplemental material.

Ladies Basketball:  Thursdays after school the gym will be open for the ladies to play basketball.  Community ladies and Grades 7-10 are invited.

NEW TEACHER

We have hired an interim teacher for the 3rd-4th grade classroom.  Dennis Breese is coming to us from Ft. Collins where his wife is a teacher at the school there.  He has many years of teaching experience including teaching overseas.  He is fluent in Japanese and has taught English as a Second Language classes for several years.  We are happy to have him joining us for the remainder of the school year.  We are confident that he will continue the trend of excellence in education that Sheli Morgan has begun in the classroom.  Please take a moment to stop by the classroom and welcome him to our school and our team.
