Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken
We have started our unit on Gingerbread men. We made some Gingerbread men with “sweet” decorations! They look good enough to eat!
Just a reminder our PJ Party is this Thursday and our Christmas Party is next Friday. If you haven’t brought your gift for the exchange, please do so.
Hope to see everyone at our Christmas Program this Thursday. The event starts at 7:00. The Kindergarten class will start the program singing a few songs, and then they will sit with you for the rest of the program.
Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines
This is the perfect time to have a science unit on weather with extreme conditions one day after another! It doesn’t need to get any colder or windier.
We are looking forward to the Christmas program on Thursday evening at 7:00. We’ve been working hard and hope to see you there.
Reports on a Christmas tradition may be done this week or next. On Monday we learned about Santa Lucia Day in Sweden. For this celebration the oldest daughter wears a wreath of lighted candles on her head! Swedish children also enjoy using Advent Calendars. Gud Jul, Merry Christmas.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Morgan
The 3rd and 4th grade pioneers have been very busy this past week making snowflakes to decorate our classroom, molasses snow candy, and corncob dolls, as we continue to look forward to Christmas. As we study more about the pioneers and the joy they had in their simple handmade Christmas gifts we are reminded that the best gifts are not measured in money spent or fancy packaging but rather in gifts generated from a heart of love and time spent with those who are dearest to us. During this very busy Christmas season I hope that you have time to reflect on the greatest gift—Jesus
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
There is a flurry of activity all around with final preparations for the Christmas Program this Thursday evening. Students need to be in their places at 6:00 p.m. for band practice on Thursday evening.
We have one more field trip scheduled before Christmas. There are two spots left for adult chaperones to the IMAX film “The Human Body” and a visit to the Grossology exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on December 13. Please let me know if you are interested in attending. A permission slip for your student is enclosed in today’s folder.
Each student is also working on individual state projects. Additional information and deadlines for the project is in today’s folder.
Math test tomorrow and English test on Monday.
Finally, we will be having a Christmas party on Friday, December 16. Students would like to have a gift exchange, spending no more than $5. Please contact me if you have questions.

Ms Schneider
Ever think to yourself, “Boy, it’s been ages since I did anything special with my significant other. I should do something out of the ordinary with them- but what?” Well here’s your chance. The Christmas Play is this Thursday and it’s filled with themes of love, loss, and saving grace. What better way to win the love of your life than to take them to a play! Invite your family, friends, neighbors, and strangers (not too strange=).
Ladies Basketball: Thursdays after school the gym will be open for the ladies to play basketball. Community ladies and Grades 7-10 are invited.

Progress report on
Box Tops and Campbell’s
We did it! We already turned in enough labels and bonuses in the Campbell’s Labels for Education program to qualify for our goal: a 24-foot play parachute canopy for the younger grades. It should be delivered in January.
The parachute required 6,000 labels, but we still have 3,044 label points “banked” with the program. At this rate, we'll be able to order another item this year, and it won't cost us any money.
Please continue to save every Campbell’s label. If you’re not sure what part to save from some products, look for the tiny “Labels for Education” logo. It often says “save label,” “save lid,” or “save UPC.” To save the label, simply slice it off the can. Also, look at the end of grocery receipts for any bonuses.
The Box Tops for Education program is totally separate, and it rewards our school with two payments a year. We just submitted 950 Box Tops, so VRA will receive a check for $95 in December. Look for the “Box Tops for Education” squares on grocery items, and save each one.
Ask relatives if they would also save Box Tops and Campbell’s labels for VRA. The rewards from these programs directly benefit our students. If you have any questions, call Jennifer Jas at 303-460-9272.
