Fall Festival was great!! Thanks to all the parents that helped by donating their time, talent, and ice cream!!

We are finishing our unit on Pilgrims and Indians.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and safe traveling!!

Fall Festival was a wild affair!  Thanks for all the food contributions, kitchen help, and game organizers.  It was a lot of work, but lots of fun.  We have 10 thriving goldfish if you missed your chance to get one Sunday night.

Harrison and Trevor have been reading a chapter book entitled The Candy Corn Contest.  They are organizing a contest for our classroom patterned after the one in the book.  We have a large jar filled with candy corn, of course.  For each good deed done, and for every book read, students can make a guess as to the number of candies in the jar.  On Friday, the jar of candy corn will be awarded to the lucky individual with the closest guess.

May God Bless each one of you and your families during this Thanksgiving Holiday.  We certainly have so much to be grateful for.  Your children are very precious.

Mrs. Morgan

The Fall Festival was so much fun!!  Thanks to those of you who were able to come along and support us on Sunday.  I know the students in my class had a great time.  When I asked them about their favorite thing the resounding response was – “The Maze.”  Thanks especially to those Dads who sacrificed some “football time” to be there with your kids.

The grade 3 and 4 class has been asked by Mrs. Carlisle (who can obviously spot outstanding talent) to be the core group for the children’s choir in the upcoming Christmas Cantata at the Boulder SDA Church on Saturday, Dec. 10.  It is a beautiful program called “Festival of Lights” which tells the Christmas story through songs and narration.  We are all very excited to be chosen for this part and I am hoping that as many as possible of my students can be in this program.  It does require a commitment to attend a few rehearsals so that the children understand at what point in the program their part is and when/where to stand for it.  The rehearsal times are:  Sat., Nov. 19 – 9:00 a.m.
Fri., Dec. 9 – 6:30 p.m. (Required)
Sat., Dec. 10 – 10:30 a.m. (assemble for performance)
All of the practices are at the Boulder SDA church.  Mrs. Carlisle would like the children to wear festive Christmas church clothes for the performance if possible.

I hope you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson

Thank you to all students who helped at the Fall Festival.  We had 100% participation from our classroom!

The Field Trip on Friday to Walmart was very exciting.  We packed our shoe boxes yesterday.  It was exciting doing something special for someone else.  The boxes will be shipped off this weekend.  Thank you to everyone who contributed additional funds for supplies and postage.

Our next Field Trip will be on Wednesday, November 20.  Geologist Gary Nowlan will be showing us signs of chemical and physical weathering as part of our science curriculum.  Weather permitting, we will experience these signs first hand along the front range.  A permission slip is enclosed in today’s folder.

Some of our students have been invited to perform a short skit this Saturday at the Boulder SDA Church.

Thanksgiving Vacation begins at 12:15 on Friday.  Have a great week where ever you may be celebrating.

Grades 7-10
Mr. Pauls
Mr. Wuerfel
Ms Schneider

Classes are going well for 7-10. We finished short stories and have continued with To Kill a Mockingbird. The students are doing exceptionally well and grasping deeper concepts and symbolisms in both 7/8 and 9/10.
After grading the short stories it has become apparent that more time needs to be dedicated to grammar instruction and writing skills.

The play is well on its way! Remember to mark your calendars accordingly.

We have a volleyball game on Friday against Cedarwood.  The games will begin at 12:30 pm here at the school.

The 7th – 10th grade Christmas Banquet will be on December 4 here at the school.  Please see the next Aspen Leaf for more details.

Props for Christmas Play!

Please read the list and see if you have any of the items in your garage, or if you know where you might be able to locate them.  Please bring all donations to Mr. Wuerful’s room.  If you want to call him, simply call the school and his phone extension is #17.

ITBS Testing Results

The results of the ITBS tests are in.  On the average, the students at Vista Ridge Academy scored slightly above the 80th percentile in the nation.  In other words, our students scored higher than 80% of America’s students.  We are really proud of them and what they have achieved.
