Mrs. Tusken
I believe our spider party was a great success!! I don’t know about the kids, but I was exhausted! J A big thank you to the parents that made the whole thing possible!! Everything turned out so great!
We started our new unit on dinosaurs today! I think it is going to be a hit with the kids!! Our next unit is Thanksgiving and I have included a homework assignment for next week. (disguise Tom the Turkey) Please help your child with this project and the more creative, the better!!
New sentence practice, this week our words are brown and cat.
Our literature connection for this week is “If the dinosaurs come back” by Bernard Most.
Parents! Please volunteer an hour of your time for the Fall Festival! Please contact me!
Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines
Remember our early dismissal tomorrow, Wednesday, due to Parent Teacher Conferences. It’s not too late to sign up!
Show and Tell – Bring an item, preferably not a toy, in a large grocery bag. Staple the top shut. On a piece of paper write three clues as to what the object is inside the bag. A child reads the clues and the class attempts to guess what it is.
It was a perfect day for our cookout. Thanks for your contributions. We all went home smelling like a roasted hot dog.
We’ll be contacting you to help out with our Fall Festival Booths. Food items we expect to sell are corn dogs, caramel apples, and popcorn balls. Our game booth will be, back by popular demand, Tossing for Goldfish.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Morgan
Thank you to everyone who helped make our field-trip such a success last Tuesday!! We all had a great time and most of the 3rd and 4th graders wondered why we couldn’t have a field-trip once a week! It was a fun way to end our underwater unit. You may have noticed that our classroom has taken on a new look as we are no longer underwater explorers.
Our theme has changed and we are now studying aspects of pioneer life. We are very excited about this and the prospect of an old-fashioned Christmas as well. As our classroom is new at VRA this year, we do not have our own Christmas tree. If anyone has an artificial tree that we could borrow before Christmas we would be very grateful!
I am hoping to see all of you at Parent/Teacher conferences tomorrow. If, for some reason, you are unable to meet with me at school, please feel free to call me.
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
Don’t forget that school is out at noon tomorrow! Please call to schedule an appointment for Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you are unable to attend, I would be happy to have a phone conference. Thanks!
Grades 7-10

Mr. Wuerfel

English:
Grades 9/10 have just begun reading on their first To Kill a Mockingbird. Going against popular belief, this is not a hunting book. This is an amazing book that will, in all hope, teach the students the basics of a novel, themes of perspective, cultural differences, and growing up will be discussed through out the next two months.
Grades 7/8 will begin their first novel No Promises in the Wind. This is a coming of age novel set during the 1930’s in the heart of the Great Depression.
Bible:
Grades 9/10 are almost done with their exegesis papers which are due the 11th of November. This paper is weighted heavily so make sure your students get it in on time.
Drama:
We are working on memorizing lines and creating backdrops and finding appropriate props. This Christmas Play will be exciting because it is written and directed by your kids! Themes of forgiveness, family values, death, and redemption are all included in this special play. Please call if you would like to be a part in helping make this night memorable for your students and the audience alike.
The following items are needed as props for Mr. Wuerful’s Drama Club Christmas play on Dec. 8th.
Props for Christmas Play!
Please read the list and see if you have any of the items in your garage, or if you know where you might be able to locate them. Please bring all donations to Mr. Wuerful’s room. If you want to call him, simply call the school and his phone extension is #17.

We need parent volunteers to help at both game and food booths. Please contact the school office if you can help out for an hour at either a game or food booth.

These coupon packs have 2 for 1 coupons at Winter Park and Copper Mountain, as well as for several local golf courses, restaurants, and much, much, more. These are a great value and make excellent Christmas gifts. You or your student can get more packs to buy or sell at the school office.

To be eligible for the Reward Party, a student must have sold at least five 2 for 1 Coupon Packs or raised $125.00 in donations from the letter writing campaign.
