Classroom News
Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken
This week we are finishing our unit on Bats and starting our unit on Spiders. Next Monday we will have a Spider party to conclude our unit. Starting in November our new themes will be dinosaurs, Thanksgiving, Pilgrims and Indians.
Please remember that next Wednesday is Parent Teacher Conferences and the students will dismiss from school at 12:15.
Tomorrow our class will be joining Ms. Gaines class for a trip to the park for lunch. Since there is NO HOT LUNCH tomorrow, we thought this would be great time to venture out of the school and enjoy the beautiful fall weather! So please pack a lunch for your child that is fit for the park (no microwave), and please include a drink.
I have included a new vocabulary sentence practice sheet. Please review with your child at home. Our words are I, like, and purple.
Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines
Look in the Tuesday folder for weekly memory verses. Many opportunities are given throughout the week to say the verse. First grade spelling words are included in this week’s folder. Next Friday, November 4th, will be their initial test. Practice a few times at home so that test day is not too traumatic.
There will be no Snack Shack or Pizza next Monday for our class. We plan to have a campfire and cookout. Students are to bring hotdogs for themselves. We’ll need: 3 dozen rolls, 2 large bags of chips, cut veggies, marshmallows, graham crackers, drinks and 8 chocolate bars. Let us know what you can bring. Pieces of kindling wood will be most helpful also. The wood can be brought ahead of time so we know we have plenty.
No hot lunch tomorrow, Wednesday. We’ll picnic in the park. No micro wave food items please.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Morgan
Thank you to all the parents/relatives who were able to come and support our church program at the Chapel Haven church on Saturday. I was very proud of the 3rd and 4th graders as they took part in the program. Well done guys!!! There will not be a M.V. or States/Capitals quiz this Friday due to our week of prayer and our all day field trip today. We are all excited about our field day so I’m sure your child will have lots to share tonight. Just a reminder to those who have not yet sent in a copy of the book “Little House in the Big Woods”- Please either purchase a copy or borrow one from your local library. We will be starting that book next week and each student needs to have one!
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
We are finishing our final week of first quarter. Students have worked hard and it will be exciting to start next Monday with a fresh clean slate.
To finish out the quarter, we will have an English test on Wednesday, a Science test on Thursday, and Math and Spelling (review only) tests on Friday.
Students did an excellent job today preparing Hot Lunch for the school. Thank you!

Healthy Lunches and Snacks
Mark Twain once said: “The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd druther not.”
As cooler weather sets in so will the cold and flu season. On days when Hot Lunch is not served, we encourage parents to send healthy lunches and snacks to school with your children. Please limit food and drink items that are high in sugar, fat, and caffeine. Not only will this help maintain good health, but it will also aid in a higher level of concentration and cooperation in the classroom! Thank you.
