Classroom News
Kindergarten
Mrs. Tusken
We have been having so much fun learning all the new names of our friends and the procedures of the classroom! So far, our favorite activity is recess! (I know...you are shocked!) But hopefully that will change over the year!
This week our literature theme is "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom." Through this wee we are discovering all the letters of the alphabet! We are also making a coconut counting book to take home and share with our parents!
Please join us this Thursday night for Parents' Night. We will be having a treasure hunt in our room with a "sweet" treasure to be discovered! You don't want to miss it! I will also have information for parents on classroom procedures and activities. See you there!
Grades 1-2
Mrs. Gaines
We are certainly a classroom of busy bees. Just stop by for a visit and you will see! Right now we are working at getting all the routines down and at the same time having fun. Our emphasis this week is walking in the hall, sitting at lunch, and putting our names on our papers. It is not easy!
You can help your child by sending them with a snack every day and maybe some extra on Fridays. This will take a little planning on your part, but is really easier for me. Send something fairly simple and nutritious. We generally take a little break during math time, while we snack and work.
Grades 3-4
Mrs. Morgan
We are having lots of fun learning in our underwater world! This week we are learning about underwater exploration and the discovery of the sunken ship Titanic. Check out the new "school of fish" in our classroom. Parents, please remember to check your child's assignment sheet to be sure he/she is completing daily tasks and remember the MV, States and Capitals and spelling test on Friday. Congratulations to Gabriel who won the competition to name our class mascot - "Shamoo."
Grades 5-6
Mrs. Hodgson
Outdoor School has been postponed. Please make sure and read the additional memo regarding the changes. Our class will be having an all day field day on Tuesday, September 6.
Toast Tuesday has begun! One Tuesday a month Mrs. Hodgson surprises us with toast when we arrive at school.
Our class is also responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day. Thank you to Bidkar Acosta and Anthony Wood for their work the first week of school. This week Jordan Lee and Anthony Wood are in charge. Thanks, guys!
Grades 7-8
Miss Schneider
We had a great time at the Ice Breaker. All the kids did great.
First soccer game is Friday.
Grades 9-10
Mr. Wuerfel
I'm excited to say this year is looking very promising for our 9th and 10th graders. Our analysis of short stories has left me speechless. One friendly reminder to students and parents alike, to ensure you/your child does well, continue turning papers in on time. I am so blessed to be here with such wonderful students.
