KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SIXTH GRADES

The elementary grades at VRA focus on the fundamentals -- reading, writing, and arithmetic.  Our class sizes are small, lending to a family atmosphere, and allowing our teachers to give special attention to each child.  We also seek to develop the social and physical skills of the children, and include field trips, art projects, and community outreach program in an effort to enrich the educational program.

SEVENTH THROUGH TWELTH GRADES

As in every school, life becomes more complex for our upper grades.  We have teachers with specialized training in essential subjects.  Our student association works directly with the teachers to create a cohesive group, as well as planning lots of fun activities throughout the school year.  Community outreach programs are also included to encourage social responsibility.  And we have a sports program called Christian Athletes, which organizes several team sports.

All of our high school students are taking the college prep program.  And we have the best and most advanced books that are available for that program track.  So we offer only the best of the college prep program.

OF SPECIAL INTEREST

In addition to traditional classroom subjects, we emphasize a Christian lifestyle for the enrichment and benefit of each child.  Our goal is to prepare students to be healthy, productive, and responsible members of society.

HISTORY

Vista Ridge Academy is actually more than a century old, although before February 9, 2004, it existed at a different location, under a different name.  In 1899 Boulder Junior Academy was established at the corner of Seventh and Highland Streets.  Over the years, it was housed in three differenct locations within Boulder, the last location being on 4th Street north of Mapleton Avenue.  The school was owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and educated thousands of children throughout Boulder County.  Now Vista Ridge takes over when BJA left off.

When demographics changed in recent years, causing most constituent families to move east outside of Boulder, it was determined that the school needed to follow.  Thus began a 15 year quest to move east.  That quest was finally fulfilled with the Grand Opening of Vista Ridge Academy on February 9, 2004, followed by its dedication on February 14, 2004.  So although Vista Ridge is a beautiful new facility, its heritage is over 100 years old.

Seventh-day Adventists are Christ-centered men and women who are filled with hope, seeking a better life now and for eternity.  Our world church currently operates over 6,200 schools around the globe, making it the largest Protestant educational system in the world.
